WE DAY 2017

The first time I heard of We Day was back in 2009. Craig Kielburger came to my high school and spoke about how he began his fight against child labour. These days Craig and his brother Mark are empowering youth all over Canada to make a change. The goal of We Day is to make the world a better place by embracing volunteerism, spreading positivity and standing up for what you believe in.

This year’s first outdoor We Day took place in Ottawa featuring many memorable speakers such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, retired Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, singer Nelly Furtado, actor Jacob Tremblay, and a surprise visit from activist and musician Gord Downie joined by the brave sisters of Chanie Wenjack.

I had the honour of covering the event for Ottawa Life Magazine alongside photographer Renée Boucher Doiron and writer Andre Gagne. Below are my favourite photographs of the day. To read the full article on Ottawa Life Magazine click HERE.
